Glass Fertilizer

Glass Fertilizer functions on the principle of the controlled release of phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium over a period of up to 3 years.

The special composition of the glass and its production technology mean that the granules gradually release their nutrients into the soil and plants. The fertilizer is environmentally friendly, effective over the long-term and reduces the risk of nutrients being rinsed into the groundwater.

This is a specially manufactured phosphate glass by using new, carefully controlled input raw materials.

We offer the long-acting fertilizer in 3 variants:

• PK Glass Fertilizer (PK 14–31)
• NPK Glass Fertilizer – with sheep's wool (NPK 8–2–8)
• NPK Glass Fertilizer  - with horn shavings (NPK 8,5-5,5–10)

   - a balanced ratio of P, K, Ca, Mg and the trace elements that are necessary for plant health

3. MANAGED RELEASE OVER A PERIOD OF 1-3 YEARS (IN ACCORDANCE WITH TYPE OF FRACTION) 
   - the only glass fertilizer in the Czech Republic, a substantially longer active period than conventional fertilisers
4. NO SURFACE WATER CONTAMINATION
   - the controlled release of the nutrients only during the vegetative period does not lead to any surface water contamination. 30-40% of the nutrients from regular fertilizers are washed into the surface water, leading to environmental pollution
5. IT BLOCKS THE AFFECTS OF SOIL SALINIZATION 
   -    the high potassium level blocks the effects of soil salinization during winter road salting 
6. DESIGNED FOR PERENNIALS
   -    it has been designed for use with perennial plants/trees that do not require significant amounts of nitrogen, for example, fruit and ornamental trees, shrubs, municipal parks, green roofs, forest tree species, …
7. IT HELPS PLANTS DO BETTER DURING DROUGHTS 
   -    once the fertilizer has dissolved, amorphous  SiO2 (a gel) is left behind as an insoluble remnant that retains water (like a sponge) and helps plants do better during droughts

Glass Fertilizer has been developed in cooperation with the Landscape Research Institute in Průhonice (Czech Republic).

Preciosa Ornela has received the “Zlatý klas” award for its unique glass fertilizer at “Země živitelka” 2025 international agricultural exhibition.
